Guardian consent notice
This document is under review
This is a provisional draft that a lawyer has not yet reviewed. It will be replaced by the reviewed text.
1. Purpose
Korean data protection law (PIPA) requires a legal guardian's consent before the personal data of a child under 14 may be processed. This notice explains what a guardian is agreeing to.
2. What is being agreed to
The guardian agrees that the child may hold a Samling Football English account, and that the following personal data may be processed.
- Account data: device identifier, email address (if an account is linked), name or nickname, birth year
- Learning records: lesson progress, right and wrong answers, time spent, streak, experience points
- Guardian data: the guardian's email address and the time consent was given, kept as the record of it
3. Scope of this consent
The current scope is creating the account and keeping learning records. Features that would show the child's records outside the account — sharing with a club or academy, or a public profile — stay switched off until a separate consent is given.
4. How consent is given
The child enters the guardian's email address in the app, and a message with a confirmation link is sent to it. The guardian opens the link, reads what is being agreed to and presses the consent button. The link expires after 7 days, and asking for a new one makes the previous link stop working at once.
5. How long it is kept
The record of consent is kept for 5 years from the date it was given. The child's personal data is kept until the account is deleted and destroyed within 48 hours of the request.
6. The guardian's rights
A guardian may at any time ask to:
- see, correct or delete the child's personal data
- stop its processing
- withdraw consent, which suspends the account
7. The right to refuse
A guardian may refuse. Without consent, a child under 14 cannot use the service.
